About Us

Learn 911 is dedicated to helping aspiring professionals start their careers in law enforcement. As a mail-order provider of law enforcement training materials, we specialize in providing educational resources covering the fundamentals for law enforcement, public safety, and emergency dispatchers, specific to California.  Our mission is to make quality law enforcement education accessible to anyone seeking to enter the field. 

Authors Behind Learn 911

The educational materials offered by Learn 911 are created by professionals who have spent years working directly in law enforcement and emergency communications. Their firsthand experience provides valuable insight into the realities of public safety careers and the skills needed to succeed.

Debbie Konstantakos

Debbie is a retired Public Safety Dispatch Supervisor from a Southern California city. She served both as an in-house instructor for her department and as a tactical dispatcher for the department’s S.W.A.T. team during high-risk incidents. She continues to serve as a Criminal Justice instructor for P.O.S.T. (Peace Officer Standards and Training) certified courses, training Public Safety dispatchers, communication training officers, civilian supervisors, dispatch supervisors, and peace officer academies. 

Steven Hohnstein

Steve is a retired Police Officer from a Southern California city. He served as a patrol officer, Field Training Officer, motor officer, and undercover narcotics investigator. Steve also held assignments as a P.O.S.T. (Police Officer Standards and Training) academy evaluator, field supervisor, and contributed many hours working in the 911 dispatch center.

Goldenwest College, Huntington Beach, CA

Golden West College offers the Public Safety Dispatch course for those pursuing a profession in dispatching. They also offer other related dispatch courses for continued professional training through your career such as Communications Training officer, dispatch supervisor, civilian supervisor and the Police Academy, as well as many other law enforcement related courses.
 Students interested in the P.O.S.T. Public Safety Dispatch Academy can contact the college via email. Classes are conveniently available through a live online platform, making it easy to learn from anywhere. (It's just like being in the classroom) The class is based on a student-centered approach where the educator acts as a guide, coach, and mentor rather than a direct lecturer. The class is taught in a facilitative teaching style that fosters critical thinking, self-directed learning, and active participation by encouraging students to explore, ask questions, and discover answers.

Rio Hondo College, Whittier, CA

Rio Hondo College provides on-campus courses for aspiring Public Safety dispatchers. Students interested in the P.O.S.T.
